Koalas

Phascolarctos Cinereus

Koalas are not part of the bear family, they are actually marsupials.

A koala diet consists mainly of eucalyptus leaves.

Koalas live in eucalyptus forests in Southeastern and Eastern Australia. They are usually 23.5 to 33.5 inches in height, and they weigh and average of 20 pounds.

Eucalyptus is toxic, so koala digestive systems have to work hard to digest all the toxins and keep all the nutrients. Koalas do not get a lot of energy from their diet, and that is why they sleep a lot. Koalas generally sleep for 18-22 hours per day.
